Custody Mediation and Domestic Violence: Applying Ethics to Enhance Safety

Cases involving domestic violence pose unique and dangerous considerations. When mediating cases involving domestic violence, mediators must take precautions to ensure that neither the mediation process nor the parenting plan developed at mediation can simply become additional tools for the batterer to continue to engage in domestic abuse.

This three-hour online course explores the unique ethical challenges of mediating parenting plans in cases involving domestic violence; explores ways that mediators can enhance safety for the parties and the mediator; and identifies specific safety concerns that arise in common parenting plan provisions when domestic violence is present.

Eligible for 3 Nevada CLE credits: 2 ethics and 1 general.

MTC Trainer: Melissa Mangiaracina
